education

It is said that when you educate a girl/woman, you educate a nation. We are interested in educated nations.

Education is vital to ensuring better quality of life for all people. An educated girl tends to marry later and have healthier children, who are more likely to survive as they will be better nourished.

An educated woman is able to create intergenerational education benefits. She will also be more productive at home, better paid in the workplace, better able to protect herself from diseases like HIV/AIDS, and assume a more active role in social, economic, and political decision making throughout her life.

Since the World Conference of Education in Jomtien in 1990, the emphasis in the area of girls education has increased. Gender differential access to school is usually caused by poverty, adverse cultural practices, schooling quality, and distance to schools.

We support efforts in bridging the gender gap in education by providing support to schools in rural areas through Binti clubs where children, especially girls are mentored and taught leadership skills, given career guidance, and taught public speaking, debate, and research skills.

Through the clubs, we bring the world to the girls in rural areas, build their confidence, and expose them to role models who aspire them to work hard, aim to succeed, and step out into the world to empower both themselves and their communities.
