where we work

We work in rural areas which are characterized by poor infrastructure, lack of information, difficulty in access to resources, and high levels and incidences of poverty. While everyone’s growth is curtailed in such environments, it is usually women and children who bear the full brunt of the realities.

Women are weighed down by the gender burden. It is usually their sole responsibility to take care of children, maintain hygiene, cook, care for elderly parents, and perform other duties. With heavy domestic workloads, women barely have time to engage in any economic activities to advance themselves. Indeed due to such reasons, poverty has over time acquired a feminine face.

We work in rural areas to provide services, information, and resources that go a long way into helping ease the burden on women, and free their time, which is a great asset, so that they are able to exploit their potential and better both themselves, and their families.

We also work in rural schools which are challenged by lack of facilities, and which would benefit from exposure to outside environments. Girls in rural schools usually lack the necessary facilities to compete adequately with their urban counterparts. Further, they also lack information that can assist them make important life choices, as opposed to their urban counterparts.
